Ja, we kunnen het!

Natuurlijk ontkom ik er niet aan om wat over onze ‘nieuwe held’ (of messias voor sommigen) Barack Obama te schrijven. Ook ik sla hem met bewondering gade. Ook ik was bij zijn inauguratie voor de tv, zo erg dat ik mijn afspraak vergat. Ook ik in de ban van Obama? Nou valt mee. Het is meer bewondering omdat hij bepaalde dingen natuurlijk erg goed doet. Hij is nu een goede week bezig… en in ieder geval voortvarend. Het lijkt of de wereld er al aan gewend is, alsof hij al jaren in de oval office zit. GW Bush is history.Hoewel… zijn erfenis niet. Wat Obama nu echt ten goede gaat betekenen voor de levens van veel mensen is nog afwachten. Want met goede bedoelingen ben je er nog niet. En die zijn er in overvloed. Ik zag laatst een interessante tv uitzending over ‘postgraduate’ Jon Favreau, de nog maar 27 jarige speechwriter van Obama… uit zijn pen kwamen de hypnotiserende toespraken, door Obama zo gevleugeld uitgesproken. Dat kan niet iedereen. Zie je net zo een enthousiasme bij het publiek als Balkenende uitspreekt: “ja mensen, wij kunnen het!” Nee dus.
En vooruit hier nog een inspirerend stukje, of je nu wilt of niet, it grabs you by the lurves :).

I believe that we can provide jobs to the jobless, home to the homeless and reclaim young people in cities across America from violence and despair… I believe that as we stand at the crossroads of history we can make the right choices and meet the challenges of our time. … America, tonight if you feel the same passion and energy that I do, if you feel the same hopefulness that I do, I have no doubt… that this country will reclaim its promise, and out of this long political darkness, a brighter day will come…. ”
